Severe Weather Coverage

Damage from Tornado

Once the tornado hit I spent the next two days getting content for every show for three stations.  I found this family that lost the roof on their home.  I asked if I could go live from their living room to show the damage.

Tornado hits Middlesboro

I was just finishing up my dayside shift when the tornado hit.  I went back out on the field and shot a package.  Then I went live both WYMT and our sister station in Knoxville.

Beat the Heat

Several counties that I cover were under a heat advisory in July. To show how hot it was, I didn't just shoot roofers from the ground, I got on the roof with them.

Flooding and Mudslides

While Appalachia is known for its beauty, it's also know for the severe weather.  Several areas are known to flood causing mudslides. To show this, I went to areas that got the most damage.

Controlled Fires

The Cumberland Gap National Park is in my coverage area.  A few times every year, firefighters set control burns.  This way it allows the forest to grow and stay healthy. Crews let me tag along.  I had to go through a lot of training to get this close to the action.
